Job Description: BASIC PURPOSE: Plan and manage the overall sales and marketing of the hotel to achieve optimal occupancy and use, maximizing revenue and meeting/exceeding hotel profit objectives.
ORGANIZATIONAL SCOPE: Position is responsible for short and long term planning and day-to-day operations of the hotel sales division. Recommends the marketing, advertising and sales plans and programs and annual budget; manages within approved plans and budgets. Participate in total hotel management as a member of the Hotel Executive Committee.
Essential Functions:
1.Implement company programs and manage the operations of the sales division in a manner consistent with the policies and procedures of the company; prepare, analyze and review forecasts, statements and reports to determine if the plans and programs are producing the optimal amount of revenue
2.Develop and continually enhance relationships with corporate, business, travel industry, community organizations, professional associations, media, etc, current and potential clients to maintain and increase awareness of the hotel and our market share
3.Survey, review and analyze competition, market trends, customer needs and comments in order to develop new plans and programs and determine the potency of current plans and programs
4.Develop, recommend, implement and manage the sales division's annual budget and the advertising, public relations marketing and sales plans and programs for the hotel to maximize rate and occupancy thus ensuring the hotel meets/exceeds management and owner revenue/profit goals and expectations
5.Train all members of the hotel staff on how to recognize and capitalize on all sales opportunities to increase hotel occupancy and revenue

Job Requirements: Knowledge and Skills:
Education: Four year college degree or equivalent education/experience.
Experience: Five years within the hotel sales discipline. Department head (ie.- Director of Sales) position for at least two years.
Skills and Abilities:
Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession. This includes experiential knowledge required for management of people, complex problems and efficient sales activities.
Requires studying, analyzing and interpreting complex activities or information in order to improve new practices or develop new approaches.
Must possess highly developed communication skills to frequently negotiate, convince, sell and influence other managerial personnel, hotel guest(s) and/or corporate clients.
Travel required:Local travel required on a daily/ weekly basis.
Position requires excellent mobility with constant moving schedule- including greeting guests, appointments, off property events, on property events.
Required due to outside sales calls, meetings, social events, etc. Automobile is most frequently used.
Clear communication is of primary importance; requires extensive face to face and phone contact with people.
Needed to supervise events, hotel condition, ability to explain the complexity of the hotel to meet the client's needs . Clear and precise communication is key to all aspects of this position.
Written communication is a key component to this position.
Must be well-spoken due to heavy communication with the public.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
